It's Getting Real, Folks

Is it ok to say I'm not really ready for baby boy to come? Yes, I want to meet our little man. Yes, I want to hold him in my arms and feel relief from all the aches and pain. Yes, I want to see Anna's joy when she gets to finally meet her baby brother. But mentally, emotionally, I'm just not ready. We have everything we really need. Diapers & wipes, check. Carseat, check. Bassinet, check. Blankets and clothes, check. Mama's milk, check when he makes his appearance. And while my body is definitely ready to feel back to normal again (I know it'll take a few weeks after he comes), I don't know if I'm ready for the sleepless nights, the wondering of why he's crying, the fear of Anna stepping on him or poking his eyes out, or the anxiety and realness that goes along with transitioning from one child to two. My concern when I was pregnant with Anna was all "Oh no, I don't have the nursery done yet." Psh, this time around, all he gets is a bassinet beside Mama. The nursery is the farthest from my mind now that I know what having a newborn is like. Plus with Anna and Juice Drop sharing a room he won't be in with her for a while so we'll keep it decorated for Anna for the time being. I'm officially seeing my midwife once a week now, I'll be tested for Group Beta Strep next week, baby showers are this weekend, soccer has started and the air is starting to cool. All of this means we are that much closer and inside I am freaking out. If you have any tips on how not to go crazy in the last few weeks and/or advice on transitioning from one to two I'd gladly welcome it ;)

Now let's get to a baby bump!

How far along? 35 Weeks and 3 Days

How big is baby? the size of a coconut and his testes have probably fully descended (not something I wrote during Anna's pregnancy lol)

Total weight gain: 36 pounds--officially more than what I gained with Anna and I still have 4 1/2 weeks left until due date! eek!

Maternity clothes? only when I'm in public trying to look nice, otherwise it's gym shorts, leggings, tshirts and tank tops

Sleep: just awful. Most nights I find myself on the couch. It's much softer than our bed and I feel better knowing I'm not waking Travis up from my tossing and turning.

Best moment this week: Anna and my birthday celebration over the weekend! Stay tuned for a post later this week :)

Miss Anything? feeling comfortable

Movement: morning, noon, and night ;)

Food cravings: junk, junk, and anything junk

Gender: baby boy!

Labor Signs: just the usual braxton hicks, nothing crazy this week.

Symptoms: major heartburn--it comes on even before I've eaten--I've had to resort to Zantac because Tums just aren't cutting it, braxton hicks, peeing all the time, out of breath, rib and back pain, and my favorite: baby kicks!

Belly Button in or out? out

Happy or Moody most of the time: pretty happy!

Looking forward to: my two baby showers this Sunday and Monday! We are so blessed to have so many friends and family who are excited about Juice Drop.

Tuckered Out

I realize that the only blog posting I've been doing lately is of my weekly bumpdates. And I have no other excuse than I.Am.Tired. Let me rephrase, I.AM.EXHAUSTED. Third trimester hit with full force. By the time Anna goes to sleep at night my whole body aches and I just want to sit in bed with a huge bowl of ice cream and binge watch "The Office" (for the millionth time). For all you mothers who have more than one child to chase around and a huge baby bump, YOU ARE MY HEROS! I don't know how you do it! Based on how I'm feeling lately Juice Drop numero dos may be numero last. I'm venting over my exhaustion now but I can only imagine what I'll feel like when baby boy finally arrives. I'm at least able to currently get 8 consecutive hours of sleep at night--if you don't count the getting up every 3 hours to pee, which I'm sure is just prepping me for what's to come. That'll be a long lost memory come October. Until then I'll enjoy the time I have now after Anna goes to sleep to rest, relax, put up my feet, and dream happy dreams of our beautiful children.

Is is just me or does my belly look HUGE?! And I have 10 more weeks of this!!!

How far along? 30 Weeks

How big is baby? the size of a cucumber (huh?? How does he goes from the size of an eggplant two weeks ago to the size of a cucumber?) His brain is getting wrinklier to make way for all that brain tissue, and he's strong enough to grasp a finger!

Total weight gain: 29 pounds

Maternity clothes? only when I'm in public trying to look nice, otherwise it's gym shorts, tshirts and tank tops

Sleep: what's that? It's a lose, lose, lose situation for me. We're keeping the A/C set high to save money so that makes our bedroom like a furnace. We have the fan turned on which keeps the room cool but dries me out so I have nosebleeds. Not to mention getting up 5 times in one night, being obnoxiously uncomfortable, and baby boy throwing a dance party in my belly. It's just the worst.

Best moment this week: spending time with great friends (Emily, Susan, and Laura) and laughing so hard my chest hurt after. One of the best feelings. Also the same night, introducing Emily and Laura to Cook Out milkshakes at 11 pm. No regrets (except when I literally fell into bed that night).

Miss Anything? not feeling exhausted all the time

Movement: morning, noon, and night ;)

Food cravings: junk, junk, and anything junk

Gender: baby boy!

Labor Signs: just the usual braxton hicks, nothing crazy this week.

Symptoms: major heartburn--it comes on even before I've eaten, braxton hicks, peeing all the time, out of breath, and my favorite: baby kicks!

Belly Button in or out? out

Happy or Moody most of the time: pretty happy!

Looking forward to: hearing Juice Drop's heartbeat this Friday (it never gets old!) and working to finish our bedroom and nursery before soccer season starts in 3 weeks!

Hello There 3rd Trimester, It's So Nice to See You!

Folks, we are officially in the 3rd trimester! The homestretch! The last 12 weeks! It's crazy to think that in just 3 short months we'll have another little one to chase around and cuddle and kiss to no end. Every time I hold Anna I think about how soon it'll be when she won't be the only one I'll be holding. It's bittersweet. Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon excited to finally be able to hold my sweet baby boy but Anna and I have had almost 2 good years of just she, her Daddy and I. I'm trying to savor these final weeks because in reality Travis and I will be the only ones who remember when it was just us three. *tear*

I was a little confused when I read that Juice Drop is the size of an eggplant this week. I thought eggplants were kind of small. Until we stopped in Trader Joe's this morning for our weekly grocery run and saw just how massive these things are! I can definitely believe Juice Drop is the size of an eggplant now especially knowing how hard he kicks and punches! Sometimes I feel like he's going to punch right through my skin!

It feels so good to be posting about being in the third trimester! I feel like I've been taking pictures of my bump forever. I'm so ready for our little guy to be outside of my belly and the only pictures I'll be taking are of him (and Anna still of course ;)

How far along? 28 Weeks

How big is baby? the baby is a size of an eggplant. He's starting to develop more fat so his wrinkly skin is getting more smooth and his lungs are mature enough that if he had to come now he'd most likely survive. Let's just hope he stays in there though for another 9 weeks at least!

Total weight gain: 24 pounds

Maternity clothes? only when I'm in public trying to look nice, otherwise it's gym shorts, tshirts and tank tops

Sleep: got a pregnancy pillow and it's been a total sleep changer!

Best moment this week: getting to celebrate our dear friends' and their baby at their baby shower. We can't wait to finally meet their little guy in a few weeks!

Miss Anything? not feeling like absolute crap after I eat a big meal. My eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach these days and all I want to do is eat, eat, eat but my body's saying no, no, no!

Movement: morning, noon, and night ;)

Food cravings: chocolate!!

Gender: baby boy!

Labor Signs: I've left this one out on the previous posts because I thought it was a little early to be talking of labor signs but now that I'm in the 3rd trimester and last night I had enough braxton hicks for me to worry I thought it'd be good to add this back in. So yeah, last night I had braxton hicks for almost 3 hours pretty consistently and they were uncomfy until I fell asleep. I researched before I went to bed what I should do and it said if you have more than 6 in an hour to call your dr/midwife. Well I definitely had more than 6 in a hour! But it was so late I didn't feel like calling. I decided to see if I could sleep it off and thankfully this morning they had subsided. I will definitely be talking with my midwife at my appointment later this week to see what I should do if they come on that strong again in the future.

Symptoms: major heartburn--it comes on even before I've eaten, braxton hicks, peeing all the time, out of breath, and my favorite: baby kicks!

Belly Button in or out? out

Happy or Moody most of the time: I was kind of moody this week. I stress over the littlest of things and then I can become a total you know what. Thankfully Travis can snap me back into reality pretty quickly. He's a great guy to put up with so much!

Looking forward to: finishing the nursery and our bedroom soon! I'm still in nesting mode!

There's that 3rd trimester bump. Can't wait until he's on the outside of my belly!

The Home Stretch...aka The 3rd Trimester

I’ve been pretty much MIA the past week due to the extremely slooooow WiFi where we were.  It’s been difficult being away, especially when I have so much on my mind from spending time with my family to reminiscing on childhood vacations and visits to my Grandma’s house in Ft. Myers, Florida. What a week it has been! But that’ll have to be saved for another post.

On a bigger note (no pun intended--you'll see why if you keep reading), we are in the 3rd trimester, folks! This morning we were given another ultrasound woo hoo!! because at my last appointment they told me they lost my first ultrasound...

Oh, that's too bad, I guess I'll see my baby again, *sigh*...  :)

She has grown so much in the last 10 weeks, and she is absolutely beautiful and has totally stolen our hearts. We got to see her swallow fluid, stick out her tongue a few times, her eyes open, her arms flailing everywhere, lots of hair, and even at one point she looked right at us and I felt a connection only a mother and her child could have. It was UH-MAZING!

Oh, and the ultrasound tech said she weighs 3.5 lbs and my due date is more like September 3rd!

Excuse me!?

We've got a big girl on our hands! When she told me this I started freaking out a bit...

What about Lindsey's wedding in August in Indiana? We have 2 months until September 3rd, we're soooo not ready!! Ohmygoodness! I'm hyperventilating!!

Ok, it wasn't that bad, ha! It was exciting though to think she'd come around the 3rd, especially since that's Travis' birthday! After we talked with the doctor, she reassured me that the due date is still set for September 19th considering I'm still measuring at 28 weeks and based on my last menstrual cycle. So whether she comes around Travis' birthday or mine (on the 21st), more than one Jonesie is going to have a very Happy Birthday!

How far along? 28 Weeks and 1 Day
Total weight gain: 21 lbs
Maternity clothes? Most of the time
Stretch marks? Nope J
Sleep: Sleep is ok, crazy dreams every night, and a little sore in the mornings from sleeping in one position.
Best moment this week: Spending time with my family in Florida and having them get to finally feel and see her moving! And of course seeing her on another ultrasound and hearing that she's growing perfectly!
Miss Anything? I know this isn’t really pregnancy related but I really miss my sister, Stefanie—she is currently on her way to Uganda for the next 2 ½ months to serve with YWAM.
Movement: Several times throughout the day and night…she’s most active during the night and sometimes when I wake up to use the bathroom it's hard for me to fall back to sleep because of all the movement—we’ll need to change her schedule when she arrives lol
Food cravings: Sweet
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope
Gender: GIRL!!!
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks—they’re a little better this week
Symptoms: Back and rib pain, Braxton Hicks, peeing, shortness of breath, forgetfulness
Belly Button in or out? Outie!
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finishing my last bag for a friend :)

Peek-a-Boo...

 I see you!
